Challenge:
- To catalogue, locate and monitor all of the company's sensitive information (budgets, innovations, client data, suppliers and employee information) and to protect it against theft, leaks or industrial espionage
- To implement a network security system with external management and service usage payment
- To optimise expenditure on technological investments within the organisation
- To roll out effective system globally, including all subsidiaries
Solution:
Telefonica developed and deployed a Data Loss Prevention (DLP) system with innovative technology never before used in Spain. Based on Symantec technology, DLP registers the usage of all previously catalogued sensitive material at workstations (10,000 in Spain for phase 1), as well as the network communications within the organisation, both internal and external. It includes clean email, anti-phishing and Telefonica IP security tools and is managed via its Security Operations Centre (SOC).
Results:
- Cost savings and economies of scale
- Immediate resolution of incidents
- Periodical reports and systematised information to improve decision-making processes
- Sensitive data protected with the highest levels of security
- Meets all security certificates (e.g. HIPAA, SOX, PCI DDS, ISO27001) and Spain's Organic Data Protection Law
